Best Practice for Application

  • Ensure the surface is completely clear of all contaminants (marine growth, coatings, etc.) before using the Prep Pad. Use a plastic putty knife to remove stubborn macro fouling.
  • When using the Removal and Prep Pads, ensure the surface is not aggressively abraded; only light abrasion is required for performance.
  • Note that the Prep Pad is not required in all cases. If you are concerned about affecting the quality of your components, contact your local Propspeed sales representative for more information.
  • At low temperatures, MSprime will gel. Ensure the tin is warmed to a minimum of 20°C / 68°F before use.
  • Before application, check with the manufacturer of the component for chemical compatibility. Propspeed takes no responsibility for any damage to the surface caused by solvent contact or otherwise.

PREPARATION

Removal Pad

Effective surface preparation is essential. Fouling and traces of old coatings will prevent proper adhesion.

Use a plastic scraper to remove any marine growth if required. If any old coatings are present or stubborn marine growth, use the provided Removal Pad to take them off.

PREPARATION

PREP PAD

Lightly abrade the component surface using the provided Prep Pad. Avoid deep scratches or harsh abrasion that could compromise the surface.

After abrading the component surface, tape off any areas you do not wish to coat with the Foulfree Coating.

Note: The prep pad is not required in all cases. If you are concerned about affecting the quality of your components, contact your local Propspeed sales representative for more information.

PREPARATION

Initial Clean - MSCLEAN

Dampen a clean, dry rag with MSclean. Wipe the surface thoroughly, then follow with a separate dry cloth to remove residue.

Ensure the surface is completely clean and dry before proceeding to the next step. This is confirmed when a white rag soaked in MSClean shows no discolouration after wiping the surface.

PRO TIP

The Foulfree Clear Coat is a moisture-curing product, reduce the exposure period by ensuring the can is sealed during prolonged applications. The manufacturer's warranty is voided if exposed tin is reused at a later date.

COATING

MSprime

MSPrime acts as a high-affinity primer, creating a strong and thin bonding layer between the substrate and the Clear Coat.

Brush on a thin layer of MSPrime using the provided brush, ensuring there are no runs, drips or sags for a smooth finish.

Allow to dry for a minimum of 10 minutes (no more than 30 minutes) before applying the Foulfree Clear Coat to avoid contamination of the MSprime layer.

COATING

CLEAR COAT

Open the can of Foulfree Clear Coat and apply a single, thin coat to the surface using the provided brush.

Brush out any drips, runs, or edges within 5–10 minutes for a smooth finish.

COATING

CURE TIME

Foulfree requires a minimum of 12 hours to dry before launching. In colder conditions, 40–60°F / 5-13°C, wait at least 24 hours before launching. Foulfee can sit out of the water for multiple weeks in warm or cold climates with no adverse effects.

COATING

Warning ⚠️

Foulfree is a soft silicone coating and must be protected from damage during the periods when it sits out of water.

Tested on various substrates

Tested to ISO and ASTM standards on more than 20 substrate classes, OEM parts and factory coatings, Foulfree Multi-Surface achieved the highest adhesion ratings across all substrates. Designed to keep your components clean and performing, it lets you spend more time where it counts - on the water.
